A
high-level delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal leaders, comprising jails and
tourism minister Sohan Singh Thandal, water supply minister Surjit Singh Rakhra
and Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhundar, reached Chicago on Saturday to
address the issues faced by the NRI community.
The
delegation would assess and identify the problems of the Punjabi diaspora there
and suggest remedial measures to the party high command to resolve and mitigate
their woes.
“During
their stay in America, this delegation would participate in various public
interaction programmes,” said a Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson. During these interactions,
the leaders would listen to the problems of the NRIs and prepare a
comprehensive report with remedial measures, the spokesperson said.
“This
report would be placed before the party high command,” he added. The delegation
